Stephanie Hilkmann – Drama

Steph has worked in the entertainment industry for over 25 years as an actor, singer, director,
writer, teacher, and humour therapist.

As a performer, Steph recently played Mama Morton in Chicago (Chookas) and Elizabeth in Young
Frankenstein (Opera Hunter). Some of Steph’s other credits include Mrs King in Playing Face
(Barefoot Theatre), Eponine in Les Miserables (Metropolitan Players), Amy in Company (Newcastle
Theatre Company), Philippa in Year Of The Rooster (Knock and Run Theatre), Christina in In A Pink
Tutu (DAPA Theatre) and Annie in Annie Get Your Gun (Opera Hunter). Steph has been awarded City
of Newcastle Drama Awards (CONDAs) for her roles in Playing Face, Annie Get Your Gun and also for
her performance as Jeannie in the Australian premiere of The Great American Trailer Park Musical.
Steph has also appeared in professional theatre in Sydney, starring as Jan in The Original Grease
(Squabbalogic), Hattie in Kiss Me Kate (Squabbalogic), as well as co-devising and starring in the
original musical The Tale Of Ichabod Scrubb (Pinwheel Productions). As well as performing,
Stephanie has directed several short plays in Newcastle and in 2015, co-wrote, directed and
performed in ‘Unforgettable’ – a short theatre piece that was a top ten finalist in Short and Sweet
Sydney that year.

From 2013 to 2017, Steph worked with the Arts Health Institute, providing Humour Therapy and
Music Therapy to the elderly and people with Parkinson’s Disease. Steph now works as a Social
Engagement Officer with Maroba Aged Care and teaches singing with The Voice Studio.

Steph is so excited to be working with Hunter Drama and can’t wait to work with the Hunter’s youth.
