Evelyn Parkes – Tutor

Evelyn is passionate about all aspects of the Performing Arts. Her journey began as a young student at Hunter Drama, where she later became an Assistant Tutor. She is now thrilled to be part of an incredible team of Tutors, continuing to share her love for performance.
She has extensive experience both on and off the stage. Evelyn has stage-managed Kid Frankenstein and The Jungle Book(Hunter Drama), served as Assistant Director for Grease (Callaghan College), volunteered backstage at StarStruck, and been a Pod Leader at JTF Australia.
An active member of the Newcastle Theatre Community, she was a City of Newcastle Drama Association (CONDA) Youth Ambassador from 2022 to 2023. As an Assistant Tutor, Evelyn found immense joy in inspiring young performers, which motivated her to take on a Tutor role at Hunter Drama.
For two years, she co-taught Performance Troupe with Dan Stranger, assisting in leading classes and accompanying the troupe to Eisteddfods and performances in Sydney. She was also a Lions Club Youth of the Year District Finalist, delivering a speech on the importance of Performing Arts in the community.
Evelyn’s passion for theatre has taken her overseas; in February last year, she travelled to the USA with Travel Gang to perform with Aussie All-Stars at JTF Sacramento and participated in Broadway workshops in NYC. She continues to develop her skills through Hunter Drama’s Pre-Diploma of Musical Theatre.
Evelyn is delighted to remain a part of the Hunter Drama team and looks forward to inspiring and mentoring young performers.
