Alison Hodge – Head of Musical Theatre
Alison has more than 10 years of teaching experience, as well as many years of training both in Sydney and Newcastle. Alison has trained vocally with Kym Parrish in Sydney, and within this time studied the Estill Vocal Method, with a heavy focus on vocal health and anatomy.
Alison has completed her Cert IV in Performance with ED5 (Vocal Major), and a Cert IV in Performance through Urban Dance Centre (Dance Major). In between completing these courses, Alison appeared in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (RMS), Snow White: A Winter Musical (Bonnie Lythgoe Productions) at the State Theatre, and helped to develop a new musical based on the Terry Pratchett novel Good Omens as part of the New Musicals Australia organisation.
Alison has also performed at a variety of corporate events around Sydney.
Since moving home to Newcastle, Alison has appeared in the National Theatre Company’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar, Metropolitan Players production of Mary Poppins and Hunter Drama’s RENT. Ali has also Directed, Chorepgraphed and Musical Directed many shows for Hunter Drama including Singing in the Rain Jr., Chicago, Into the Woods Jr., Peter Pan Jr. and most recently Seussical (2022).
Besides teaching at Hunter Drama ALi operates her own private teaching studio as well as inspiring students at The Voice Studio Newcastle and at the Hunter School of the Performing Arts..
Alison’s passion is passing on the knowledge she has acquired, connecting with her students, and helping them make their vocal dreams a reality.
