FABULOUS FEEDBACK

Every now and again we get given some feedback that we think is worth sharing. We received the following letter from a parent recently and it raises a point that’s worth considering. Many of our students are experienced performers and this can be intimidating for those who are just starting out. But our classes are a place for everyone to shine no matter how much experience you have, and we think this letter is a testament to that.

“I wanted to pass on my thanks to my daughter’s tutor for his positive feedback to her in musical theatre class today.

This is her first year of musical theatre (never attended drama classes either) and today was her first attempt at a mock audition. She is one of the only kids in the class who have never auditioned before, with the class mostly full of experienced students she already feels a little behind in all things drama.

When she first heard about the mock auditions back in week 1 she was adamant she would not be doing it!  She felt there is no way she could compare to the others in the class and didn’t want to feel embarrassed, so thought it safer not to do it at all.

However, after listening to the audition song options I encouraged her to just start practicing one even if she never intended to do the audition. Luckily she agreed to try one which she took to quickly and is now loving it.  She has even sought out the music teacher at her school to help her during lunchtimes with timing and breathing.

Today she attended class feeling nervous, class today was a practice of the mock rehearsal.  However I was so glad to hear she was so excited to let me know after class that her tutor had said she did great for her very first audition. A few pitch issues which we can work on but generally good.

I just wanted to express my sincere thanks, as this was a make or break moment for her and the positive feedback has given her confidence and self-belief.

Thank you to her tutor for making a 10year old girl’s day!

From a very grateful parent.”
