Love theatre but prefer to be behind the scenes? Or maybe you’re an actor who wants to dive deeper into what makes a show come together? This course is for YOU!

Step behind the curtain and discover the magic that brings a performance to life! From mastering lighting and sound to exploring production and stage management, learn how to call a show, spike set, wrangle props and even get an understanding of marketing and front-of-house management, you’ll dive right in and get hands-on with all the elements that bring theatre to life! This course is taught by industry professionals who all work in live theatre performance, bringing their area of expertise to each workshop.

You’ll learn to operate professional theatre tech, work on real productions, and even attend a behind the scenes of a professional show to break down what worked (and what didn’t). This is your chance to level up your theatre knowledge and enter the world of staging real-life productions.

• Complete a prompt copy

• Learn the art of calling a show

• Develop a Q-Lab file

• Hang and focus lights in a theatre

• Learn WHS industry practices to ensure safe work

• Prepare industry standard production documentation

This course runs for 2 hours every fortnight however also runs during Hunter Drama productions where students get hands on experience in a professional theatre. Places are limited with ony 10 students per course.
