Rylee O’Rourke – Drama
Rylee started her theatre journey in high school where she landed her first main role as Mike TV in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Since leaving school she has gone on to study a Bachelor of Secondary Teaching (Drama and English) at the University of Newcastle. During her program, she had the opportunity to travel to London to study theatre alongside The National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company.
In 2018 Rylee began her Newcastle theatre journey as a student in Hunter Drama’s Actor’s Company. During that time, she was involved in creating two original works for the company, Aftermath (2018) and Perception (2019). She also stage-managed Chicago (2018) and Fantastic Mr Fox (2019) for Hunter Drama. She has also been involved in the assistant tutor program for Maitland and has worked as a Junior Tutor alongside James Chapman for Performance Troupe (2020). She has also gone on to assistant direct A Doll’s House at Maitland Repertory Theatre (2020) and direct Picnic at Hanging Rock for Young Peoples Theatre (2020) which has been nominated for a CONDA.
Rylee is super excited to be continuing with her Hunter Drama family as an official tutor in 2021.
