MUSICAL THEATRE INTERMEDIATE CHORUS
There really is no other business like it in the world! Show business! Rehearse scenes and songs from contemporary and classical musicals. Refine your singing, dancing and acting skills as you discover how to use these tools to tell a story that will engage an audience. Piece together a musical routine from a musical comedy to perform in the Hunter Drama Laugh Out Loud Festival at the Civic Playhouse at the beginning of term 2.
Perform your comedy piece at the Laugh Out Loud Festival at the Playhouse. Then transpose your skills and consider the challenges of performing musical theatre on film. Gain valuable experience performing a scene to camera and discover how to apply your singing, acting and dancing skills to the different medium.
TERM 3 & 4
Push yourself outside your comfort zone and extend your skills and potential to be cast in a professional musical. Perform songs by characters and from shows that demand bold and strong physical choices. Explore how dance and movement can be used to shape a story in a musical theatre context. Then select, prepare, create and learn your own solo routine. Participate in a simulated audition process. Find ways to prepare effectively and at short notice. Then be cast in an ensemble musical routine. Both your group piece and solo will be presented at a short singing and acting showcase at the end of the course.
