This course builds on the core essential skills you have explored in your Young Actor’s Program course and focuses on a much more detailed approach to character development. This course also touches on auditions for screen and screen tests. It is recommended you have undertaken at least 12 months of our Young Actor’s Program prior to taking this course.


Explore the documentary and “mockumentary” genre by developing a unique character and creating an original scene to film. Discover how to present and perform these scenes to camera in a new and original film creation.


With a focus on exploring a variety of styles each week you will explore iconic classic scenes from different film genres throughout film history and get the opportunity to act some out on screen. Looking at genres such as Crime Drama, Science Fiction, the Western, Film Noir, Action, Romance, and Fantasy. Film a series of short dialogue scenes from classic films in each of the different genres to get comfortable presenting different styles to camera.


Prepare to extend your experience in front of a camera by being allocated a script from a well-known film or television program especially written for a performer your age. Prepare your character and rehearse the scene.


Understand technical aspects of how acting for the camera is different from acting on stage. Understand the roles of others on set around you when you film your scene prepared from term 3.
